Your Visit
Preparing for your stay
You'll receive specific instructions about the length of your stay and any special preparations you need to follow prior to your surgery, such as the food you may eat. Generally, you should have nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before surgery.
It's a good idea to make a list of any questions you have and ask your doctor before surgery. Being well informed will help you feel more relaxed. You also may reduce any anxiety by resting, eating well and limiting exercise.
Some suggestions to help you prepare:
- Pack a small bag with clothing and a few personal items
- Do not bring any valuables
- Bring a list of all your medications with exact names and dosages
- Bring a list of any allergies to drugs or food
- Bring your insurance cards
You may wear your dentures, hearing aids or glasses.
